Top 5 – Most Popular Paper Napkin Wisdoms from 2013

This is the big prize …
Does it seem a little over-the-top to have a picture of L’Arc de Triomphe when celebrating the most popular Blog/Paper Napkin Wisdoms/Podcasts of 2013?  I hope not … I thought that it was symbolic for a number of reasons.  I’m a bit of a history geek – well, I suppose I’m just a bit of a geek all-around- and one of the many little-known facts about L’Arc de Triomphe is that it took 2 years to just lay its foundations.
All worthwhile things take time to get started. But start them you must.  If you don’t start it’ll never get done and that’s one of the greatest takeaways I’ve gotten from the first season of Paper Napkin Wisdom. I know I’ve said it before; Just Do It, Perfection is the Enemy of Done, and so on.  I’m not sure, however, if I had ever realized just how much I needed to do more, expect more of myself, ask myself: “What more can I do?”
I can tell you that this all changes for me now.
Here are the TOP 5 Most Popular Paper Napkin Wisdoms for 2013:
1. This “Overnight Success” Only Took 17 Years of Hard Word And Shares How We Can Do It Too – John Spence
John makes another Top 5 list and with little wonder.  Great message, simply laid out, and clearly expressed.  His message deeply resonates with me and, to a certain degree, my journey has been similar to his (except for the whole working with 5 of the top 10 billionaires in the United States part).  That said, there’s still time for that …
2. Is Gratitude The Gatekeeper To Greatness – Barrett Ersek
No wonder that this has been a popular message.  I sincerely believe Barrett’s story has the power to SAVE lives.  I’ve heard incredible, miraculous, fantastical stories about how he’s impacted others.  He has been the change that he wanted to see in the world, amazingly impactful entrepreneur, leader, and visionary.  I’m deeply grateful to have heard his message.
3. Influencing People And Becoming “Happily” Incompatible With Others – Allie Mooney
Allie has the ability to take the mosaic of millions (billions) of personalities and distill them down in a way that as an entrepreneurs, leaders, and difference-makers, we’ll be better able to relate to than most. It’s about making better connections with everyone ALL the time.  I strive to be that person in 2014.  Positively impactful in every relationship I have, all the time. Thank you, Allie, for showing us how.
4. Making A Difference Is What He’s All About – Jack Daly
There is no way to run out of superlatives to describe Jack.  I’ve learned so much from him and can’t wait to sit down with him again and learn more.  He’s inspired me in so many ways and I’m totally following his goal setting system for 2014.  Jack is Mr. Paper Napkin Wisdom in my estimation … I know that you all agree.
5. Entrepreneurs May Use Lots of Dirty Words, But Here’s One We Should Use More – John Bly
Accountability – as discussed by a CPA -shouldn’t be surprising, right?  Well, it is the way John talks about it.  It’s simple, obvious even … maybe … but it’s something I’ve missed out on in a big way for a long time.  Not only have I not always led with accountability but I’ve failed to be consistently accountable to my team and others.  I’ve learned how to change that in 2014, what about you?
Honorable Mention:
Make It Great – David Galbenski
This posted on December 23rd and it had the highest per day listens in the seven days following launch of any Paper Napkin Wisdom.  No surprise, Dave’s got a great message and is a compelling and articulate leader.  Give his Podcast a listen, you won’t be disappointed that you did.  With his inspiration I plan on making it a great 2014.
Tomorrow the Season Premiere for 2014 launches for Paper Napkin Wisdom with a twist (literally and figuratively). Hope you’ll join me then!
