Mo Fathelbab – Paper Napkin Wisdom

Mo Fathelbab, Founder and President of Forum Resources Network, is an incredible and impactful leader. He served as Executive Director of Young Entrepreneurs’ Organization (before it became called Entrepreneurs’ Organization) for seven years, he has personally conducted over 1500 Forum programs, he is an international media figure, and even has a book to his name. While Mo’s success is certainly something most would be eager to learn from but, if asked, Mo would likely tell you that his success is a product of what he has learned from others.
Mo’s Paper Napkin Wisdom is both a reflection of his reasons for starting the Forum Resources Network and a product of what he has learned from his own Forum experiences. He is a big believer in the power Forums have to improve the lives of people both professionally and personally. He says that the feeling of being alone is a pervasive one and believes that Forums are an important and beneficial tool to dispel that feeling of isolation as you learn from the experience of your peers.
It is the inability to share, he says, that makes one feel alone. The Forum format is one that allows sharing without judgment. The Forums are not, he stresses, about advice but about sharing experience and learning from what you and your Forum members share with one another.
Mo shares the very personal story of the connection his forum gave him with his father and reminds us that vulnerability is the currency of exchange. To be vulnerable does not come naturally, it’s something that has to be worked on, but to build trust it is a necessity.
“Every human being deserves to belong to a forum of peers” says Mo. Personally, I’d add further and say that these Forums have the ability to save, make, and grow lives of impact.
